There’s something magical about planting garlic in late autumn. While most of the garden sleeps under frost, garlic is quietly preparing for spring. For those of us in northern climates, November is the perfect time to tuck garlic bulbs into the soil and let nature do the rest.

- Look for healthy, firm bulbs. Avoid soft or moldy cloves
